Xiaomi is set to unveil its electric vehicle (EV) technology to the global audience on December 28th. The company’s CEO, Lei Jun, shared this announcement through X (formerly Twitter). Lei Jun clarified in the caption that the event would not involve a product launch. Notably, the poster accompanying the announcement prominently features the word ‘Stride,’ providing a glimpse into the theme of the showcase along with the specified timing details.

Xiaomi is set to reveal the technology underpinning its EV endeavours on December 28th at 2:00 PM or 11:30 am IST. It’s important to note that this unveiling will focus solely on the technology itself, indicating that a physical electric Xiaomi car presentation is not on the immediate horizon. Furthermore, the live stream of the launch event will be featured on Xiaomi’s official YouTube channel.

Recent insights from the Ministry of Industry and Information (MIIT) reveal three variants of the upcoming Xiaomi car, including the Xiaomi Smart Speed Ultra 7 (SU7 EV), SU7 Pro EV, and SU7 Max EV. Noteworthy features, such as LiDAR sensor technology, active wings, and HyperOS support, have surfaced alongside camouflaged photos of the vehicle. As Xiaomi builds a factory in Beijing capable of producing 200,000 EVs annually, the company aims to manufacture 100,000 EVs by 2025 at this facility, considering repurposing existing Xiaomi stores as potential car showrooms.
