KPMG Plans Revolutionary Agentic AI That Works Around The Clock, Reshaping Workforce Dynamics

KPMG has announced plans to integrate an intelligent agentic AI system into its operations, aiming to revolutionize client services in areas such as audit, tax, and advisory. These AI agents will act as digital colleagues, designed to work efficiently and continuously without breaks.

The agentic AI system is intended to handle various tasks, working alongside human employees to enhance productivity. While KPMG’s move aligns with broader trends of AI adoption across industries, questions arise about potential impacts on human jobs as more companies develop similar AI technologies.

KPMG’s global head of AI, David Rowlands, revealed that the company is developing AI agents to work alongside its professionals, enhancing customer service, quality control, and overall business processes. These AI-powered solutions, developed in collaboration with tech partners, aim to boost productivity and client satisfaction.

The AI agents will possess both intelligence and emotional intelligence, allowing them to better understand and respond to client needs. Other firms, like PwC, are also integrating AI agents into their operations, focusing on improving efficiency, customer experiences, and profitability.

Agentic AI represents a new wave of AI technology focused on automating complex tasks and decision-making without human intervention, unlike traditional chatbots that merely respond to queries. This transformative AI can handle more advanced operations, potentially revolutionizing industries.

IBM describes agentic AI as decision-oriented, requiring neither human prompts nor oversight, with early examples including autonomous vehicles, virtual assistants, and task-oriented copilots. This shift marks a significant evolution in how businesses approach automation.

Agentic AI could lead to job displacement in big tech companies as it offers faster, more efficient results. Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg revealed that AI is already reaching the level of mid-level software engineers, predicting that by 2025, AI could replace these engineers, transforming software development.

With mid-level engineers at Meta earning mid-six-figure salaries, AI could drastically reduce costs. IBM’s CEO Arvind Krishna also supports AI and automation, stating that up to 30% of jobs in departments like Human Resources could be replaced by AI within five years.
