Dil Kush Bairwa’s father has been missing since February 17, 2023. The aggrieved filed a petition in the Delhi High Court, seeking the whereabouts of his father, who has been untraceable for over two years now. The HC asked the state police to expedite the process with the help of AI technology.
Hearing the plea, the Delhi High Court bench led by Justice Pratibha M Singh and Justice Dharmesh Sharma directed the Delhi Police to take the assistance of any available AI. The bench asked the department whether there’s such software or have they previously used one to track missing persons. The HC remarked,
“Let a short affidavit be placed on record by the State, stating as to whether there is any artificial intelligence software that can be or has been used by the Delhi Police for confirming and checking the whereabouts of such missing persons who may have gone missing due to various reasons, including unstable medical conditions.”
Per reports, the counsel for the Delhi government, Mr. Sanjay Lao, acknowledged that the state’s Crime Branch does possess such an AI technology.
Earlier, the Delhi High Court was informed that despite all details uploaded on the ZIPNET (Zonal Integrated Police Network), no progress has been made. The ZIPNET is a collaborative network of the police departments of eight Indian states to track stolen vehicles, mobile phones, and missing persons, including children.
The ZIPNET portal also provides a list of missing persons at the following link, which at press time refuses to load!

Meanwhile, the next hearing on the petition is on March 18.
