Mark Zuckerberg is suing Meta for repeatedly suspending his account, labeling it as celebrity impersonation.
An Indianapolis-based bankruptcy lawyer also named Mark Steven Zuckerberg, with an ‘S’ tucked in between, claimed that his Facebook account has been disabled five times in eight years. For the unversed, the Facebook co-founder and CEO’s full name is Mark Elliot Zuckerberg.
The other Zuckerberg, meanwhile, stated that the suspension has cost him several thousands of dollars. The removal of his business page meant losing $11,000 in advertising. His early attempts to appeal to Meta were met with apologies from the social media giant, only to have the account disabled again. Frustrated with the treatment, he decided to take Meta to court.
Speaking with a local news outlet, the lawyer stated
“It’s not funny.”
“Not when they take my money. This really pissed me off.”
“And using a false name! Which I’ve had way longer than he has.”
“I’ve got better things to do than sue Facebook. They have more money and more lawyers and more resources than I do. I’d rather not pick a fight with them, but I don’t know how else to make them stop!”
Meanwhile, per BBC, Meta stated,
“We appreciate Mr. Zuckerberg’s continued patience on this issue and are working to try and prevent this from happening in the future.”
