Union Minister for Railways and Electronics & IT, Mr. Ashwini Vaishnaw, unveiled a near-indestructible Made in India tablet. He shared his demo of the tablet from the manufacturing unit of VVDN Technologies. The X/Twitter video is entitled “Nahi Tootega” (won’t break).
Per the company’s portal, the 8-inch tablet designed in India packs a MediaTek quad-core processor, which is fabricated in Taiwan. Under the hood is a 5100 mAh battery, which is primarily manufactured in China, with exceptions of South Korea and the USA. Minerals for the lithium-ion battery are procured primarily from African and Latin American nations. Congo for instance, ships 68% of the global supply of cobalt. India is yet to have its own bhandara of rare earth minerals to exploit or an indigenously developed semiconductor to give takkar to global leaders, including the USA and the padosi China.
The go-to leading brands for tablets in India are Apple and Samsung. Other alternatives are Xiaomi, OnePlus, and Lenovo. Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance’s inexpensive Jio Tablet never made a dent in the Indian market. Will VVDN make a breakthrough after the reel shared by the minister?

The internet, meanwhile, erupted in hilarious reactions over the minister’s reel. Here are a handful for your chuckling pleasure. One user quipped, “Is it a joke?? It appears to be inside a case. What is made in India then, the tablet or the case? So making a tough shell case is a big deal now? Big enough for a union minister to brag about it.” Another jibed in jest, “Sir, aap bataa rahe ho ya challenge kar rahe ho?”
