In a scathing Truth Social post, the 47th president of the USA, Shri Shri Donald Trump, threatened Apple over selling iPhones manufactured outside the country.
Trump wrote that he had warned CEO Tim Cook “a long time back” regarding the same. He stated that if the company sells iPhones in the US, they must be produced within the country, “not in India, or anyplace else.” Failing to abide by the dictate, the tech giant will face a 25% or more tariff on its product lineup. This comes in the wake of the ongoing tariff war with China and other nations, including India. With the majority of iPhone production in the PRC, the 145% tariff caused the company to expedite strategies to get it shifted elsewhere, with India being the prime choice.
Seems like India will have to wait for its slice of iPhone production glory and thereby cheaper ones for the Indian and American customers both.
