While I thought the original Utawarerumono Zan was merely ok when I reviewed the PlayStation 4 localization all the way back in 2019, I must admit it’s been at least a bit disappointing to see the game stuck on PlayStation 4, with so much of the rest of the series having made the jump to PC – until now, anyway. Today Shiravune has revealed that their next Aquaplus title that they’re releasing on Steam will be Utawarerumono Zan, coming to the platform sometime next year. Today’s announcement also begs the question if Utawarerumono Zan 2 might also eventually see a Steam release down the line; as its one of a few entries in the franchise that has yet to be localized. Previously, the last Aquaplus title that Shiravune released for Steam was Dungeon Travelers: To Heart 2 in Another World; that game’s sequels, Dungeon Travelers 2 and Dungeon Travelers 2-2, were barred from release on Steam, although both received PlayStation Vita releases.

Although today’s announcement didn’t go into specifics, Utawarerumono Zan’s PC release will come with a number of “PC-specific optimizations and enhancements”, and will include English, Japanese and Chinese language support. Utawarerumono Zan releases on Steam for PC sometime next year.
